Dementia: De-escalation Strategies

Course Description:
As symptoms progress, a person living with dementia may find it increasingly difficult to express their needs. Changes in behaviour can occur as a way of communicating these needs. This course explores how to respond appropriately to agitated behaviour and de-escalate the situation when there are safety concerns.

After completing this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe potential causes and triggers of changes in behaviour
- Respond appropriately to agitated behaviour
- Identify when and how to de-escalate the situation when there are safety concerns
