This series was produced initially to support people who are veterans or their families to help them readjust to being back home.

Altura Learning has compiled this series and added learning assessments and resources for health professionals who provide support to veterans. You can earn up to 9 CPD points by completing this series. 

Course Description:

This is an extended course that contains 5 modules. 

It provides an overview of PTSD, the impact of PTSD on both the veteran and their family and outlines PTSD treatment options. 

To produce this course we interviewed with veterans and their families to hear their personal account of living with PTSD. We're thankful to the people who shared their stories with us.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe what PTSD is
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of PTSD
  • Recognise the impact PTSD can have on both the veteran and their family
  • Identify strategies for getting help
  • Recognise what PTSD treatment options are available

Who is this course appropriate for:

This course is appropriate for RNs, ENs, Cert IV staff and care staff who support veterans, or veterans or their family. 

Continuing Professional Development Hours:

Up to 9 hours can be earned completing this course.

You can earn 2 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hour by completing the video and assessment questions. If you wish to extend your learning and earn up to an additional 7 CPD hours, you may download the extension exercise which is attached to this course.
