Antimicrobial Stewardship
Course Description:
The aim of this course is to provide an overview of antimicrobial stewardship, how the concept is reflected in the Aged Care Quality Standards, and possible interventions for organisations to support compliance with the Standards.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe what the term antimicrobial stewardship means
- Describe the requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards that are concerned with Antimicrobial Stewardship
- Identify what interventions may be implemented so that organisations are compliant with the requirements of Aged Care Quality Standards
Who is this course appropriate for:
This course is appropriate for Care Staff, ENs and RNs who are responsible for identifying when an infection is present or reviewing people in their care who are prescribed antibiotics. Managers can benefit from the points raised in the course regarding the establishment of an effective antimicrobial stewardship policy.
