Maintaining Professional Roles & Boundaries

Course Description:
Filmed in a community setting and using varied scenarios, the course defines a professional relationship, discusses power balance in the client/carer relationship, and explores the benefits of a therapeutic relationship. Course participants will learn how to recognise when professional boundaries are being crossed and effective methods that can be used to maintain professional boundaries.

Learning Outcomes:
After completing this course, participants should be able to:
- Define what a professional relationship is
- Understand the power imbalance in relationships and the benefits of a therapeutic relationship
- Recognise behaviours that lead to professional boundaries being crossed
- Identify effective methods for maintaining boundaries within professional relationships
